The Amman Cadet Asian Cup 2025 concluded successfully on 21–22 August at the Princess Sumaya Hall, bringing together the next generation of judoka for two days of exciting contests. Organized by the Judo Union of Asia (JUA) in cooperation with the Jordan Judo Federation, the event welcomed 108 young competitors from 13 nations across three continents, including 76 men and 32 women.
The cadet tournament highlighted the depth of emerging judo across Asia, with nations such as Iran, Syria, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia performing strongly. Iran led with 4 gold medals, followed closely by Syria and Kuwait, who also secured four titles each. Indonesia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and host nation Jordan added to the vibrant medal distribution.
Jordan, competing in front of their home supporters, fielded a large delegation and earned several silver and bronze medals across men’s and women’s divisions, signaling the depth of young talent being nurtured domestically.
The competition witnessed a high rate of dynamic victories: 94% of matches ended with scores on the board, and more than half of the wins were achieved by ippon, underlining the attacking judo spirit of the cadet athletes. With 11% of contests decided in golden score, the level of competitiveness was evident in nearly every category.
For many of the participants, this was their first major international experience, with cadets gaining valuable exposure to different judo styles across the continent. The event also emphasized the JUA’s mission to provide competitive opportunities for young athletes in Asia, ensuring a strong pathway to future continental and world-level cadet championships.
