The Asian Cadets & Junior Judo Championships 2025 officially opened today in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing together the next generation of Asian judo talent for four days of top-level competition. Running from 11–14 September 2025, the Championships are organized by the Judo Union of Asia (JUA) with the support of the Local Organizing Committee, the Indonesia Judo Federation.

This year’s Championships reflect the growing strength of judo across Asia, with a wide diversity of nations represented and many emerging athletes aiming for their first continental podiums.
The competition is being staged at the Tennis Indoor Senayan, part of the Bung Karno Sports Complex in Central Jakarta.

Each competition day features morning preliminaries and semi-finals, followed by the final block and awarding ceremony in the afternoon. The official weigh-in for each category is conducted the day before competition, in line with IJF and JUA rules.
This marks the first time Indonesia has hosted the Asian Cadets & Junior Judo Championships, a milestone welcomed with pride by the Indonesia Judo Federation. In his message, General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, President of the Indonesia Judo Federation, expressed deep appreciation for the trust placed in Indonesia and emphasized the values of respect, friendship, and excellence that the Championships promote.
JUA President Mr. Obaid Al-Anzi also praised the efforts of the Local Organizing Committee and the Government of Jakarta, expressing confidence that the Championships would be a grand success.
Over the next four days, 394 judoka across cadet and junior divisions will compete in 15 weight categories, with champions set to be crowned in both men’s and women’s events. Beyond the medals, the Championships provide a crucial stepping stone for young judoka aiming to progress to the senior Asian Championships, the IJF World Tour, and ultimately the Olympic Games.
