The 2026 Asian Judo Championships came to a successful conclusion on 19 April in Ordos, following four days of high-level competition that brought together the best judoka from across the continent.
Organised by the Judo Union of Asia, the Championships featured 197 athletes from 19 nations in the individual events (16–18 April), followed by the mixed team competition on the final day, which saw 109 competitors from 10 nations take to the tatami.
Throughout the event, athletes demonstrated exceptional technical skill, tactical discipline, and fighting spirit, reflecting the continued growth and strength of judo across Asia.
In the individual competitions, Mongolia topped the medal standings with an impressive performance, securing 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Tajikistan followed with 2 gold and 2 silver medals, while host nation China delivered a strong showing with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze medals. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Bahrain also claimed 2 gold medals each, highlighting the competitive depth of the region.
The Championships showcased a wide distribution of success among participating nations, underlining the increasing competitiveness of Asian judo. Athletes from Uzbekistan, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Chinese Taipei, Japan, and India also reached the podium across various weight categories.
The mixed team event, held on 19 April, brought an exciting conclusion to the Championships. Mongolia once again demonstrated its strength by claiming the gold medal, while Kazakhstan secured silver. The Republic of Korea and Kyrgyzstan shared bronze medals, with Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates finishing in fifth place.
Since its inception in 1966, the Asian Judo Championships have remained the highest-level continental competition, serving as a key platform for athlete development, international exchange, and the promotion of judo values across Asia.
The success of the Championships was made possible through the strong support and cooperation of the Chinese Judo Association, the Inner Mongolia Sports Administration, and the Government of Ordos City.
