The Macau Asian Junior Cup 2026 concluded today, 26th July 2026, bringing a day of world-class action, high-intensity bouts, and outstanding displays of skill to the tatami. Hosted in Macau, the premier continental event gathered 180 emerging competitors (123 Men, 57 Women) representing 15 nations across four continents, all vying for continental honors.

A total of 213 contests were fought over the course of the day. Demonstrating an exceptionally high level of technical prowess, 93% of matches ended with a score, with direct Ippon accounting for 53% of all victories.

Republic of Korea Dominates the Tatami

The Republic of Korea (KOR) delivered a stunning performance to finish atop the overall medal standings, collecting an impressive haul of 5 Gold, 5 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals.

The Korean team showcased remarkable strength in both the men’s and women’s heavy weight categories:

  • Men’s -81 kg: KIM Sanggyu (KOR) captured gold after defeating Belarus’s Alexandr ALEINIKOV in the final.

  • Men’s +100 kg: LIM Chaemin (KOR) secured the top spot in an all-Korean final against teammate LEE Inyong.

  • Women’s -57 kg, -78 kg & +78 kg: MOON Jihyeon (-57 kg), KIM Goeun (-78 kg), and LEE Seungjin (+78 kg) each claimed gold in their respective divisions to cement Korea’s dominance on the podium.

Standout Performances & Gold Medalists

Kazakhstan (KAZ) finished second overall with 3 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 3 Bronzes, sweeping the top two spots across the lighter men’s divisions:

  • Men’s -60 kg: MURAT Yerkhan spearheaded a dominant Kazakh performance in the division, defeating teammate ALMABEK Abylay in the final to take gold, with compatriot ABAY Zhanadil also claiming a bronze medal.

  • Men’s -66 kg: ISATAEV Nurlan took gold after besting Korea’s PARK Hyeonseong in a hard-fought final.

  • Men’s -90 kg: OTEGEN Arkhat claimed gold, overcoming compatriot SLYAMZHANOV Alisher.

Mongolia (MGL) placed third overall (2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze), headlined by BATBUYAN Dalaitseren (-73 kg Men) and TSOGBADRAKH Amin-Erdene (-48 kg Women), both capturing prestigious titles.

Belarus (BLR) claimed 2 Gold medals, thanks to dominating performances from ZHARSKAYA Alisiya (-52 kg Women) and YARMANTOVICH Sofya (-70 kg Women). Kyrgyzstan (KGZ) earned a gold medal through ISMAGOMBETOV Fadil Mukhammad in the Men’s -100 kg category, while Australia (AUS) celebrated gold via TANDEAN Bianca in the Women’s -63 kg division.
