The OTP Group Tashkent Grand Slam 2025 kicked off in Uzbekistan with a spectacular display of judo prowess and a vibrant celebration of Uzbek culture. The event, held at the Yunusobod Sport Complex from February 28 to March 2, 2025, not only showcased top-notch judo and proud medallists but also highlighted the rich traditions and spirit of Uzbekistan.

The opening day began with a touching video tribute to Uzbekistan’s first Olympic champion, Diyora Keldiyorova, inspiring the audience with her journey from a determined young girl to a victorious judoka on the Olympic podium. The video emphasized the values of judo, including unity, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit that unites athletes around the world.
The atmosphere was further elevated by a captivating performance blending dance, gymnastics, and judo, captivating spectators with tumbling young judoka and sparkling dancers under the bright spotlights. The official welcome speeches followed, expressing gratitude to the IJF, the Sports Ministry, the National Olympic Committee, and the Uzbekistan government for their support in hosting this prestigious event.
Dr. Adham Ikramov, Minister of Sports for the Republic of Uzbekistan, extended a warm welcome to athletes, coaches, and guests, highlighting the gender equality and the high level of competition at the Grand Slam. IJF President Mr. Marius Vizer commended Uzbekistan for their successful Olympic performance in Paris, acknowledging the continuous development of judo in the region and officially declaring the start of the Tashkent Grand Slam.
Over the course of three thrilling days, judo enthusiasts witnessed outstanding performances from athletes representing 13 countries across Asia, Europe, and Panamerica. The host nation, Uzbekistan, shone brightly with an impressive tally of 12 medals, showcasing their strength and talent on the judo stage.
Showing remarkable progress, Razzokberdieva (UZB) reaches her first WJT final in Tashkent at -70 kg.
