The Dushanbe World Championships Juniors 2024 recently concluded, showcasing the rising stars of judo from around the globe. The event kicked off with the draw on October 1st, conducted in an online format and attended by key officials from the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Tajikistan Judo Federation.
During the opening ceremony, IJF Education and Coaching Director Mr. Mohamed Meridja congratulated Tajikistan on its Olympic success and highlighted the significance of hosting the junior championships for the first time. Local officials expressed their gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the honor of welcoming participants to the vibrant city of Dushanbe.
The IJF was represented by Head Sport Director Mr Vladimir Barta, Mr Mohamed Meridja, Education and Coaching Director and Mr Florin Daniel Lascau, Head Referee Director.
The competition, held at the Kasri Tennis Arena, featured 531 athletes eager to showcase their skills. With a focus on fair play and judo values, the event not only celebrated the sport but also marked a pivotal moment in the careers of many young judokas as they began to carve their paths in the Olympic cycle.
