The Macau Junior & Cadets Asian Cups 2024, organized by the JUA and hosted by the Macau Judo Association took place at the Tap Seac Sports Pavilion in Macau SAR, China, from August 10 to August 11, 2024. Athletes from 15 countries and regions, including the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, gathered for the event, with nearly 200 participants.Â
Opening Ceremony Officiating Guests include Honorary President of the East Asian Judo Federation Mr. KIM Jung Haeng (KOR), JUA Head Sports Director Mr. Che Kuong Hon, JUA Education Director Mr. CHO Yong-Chul, JUA Head Referee Director Mr. OSAKO Akinobu, JUA Referee Commissioner Mr. Moon Won Bae, etc.
The competition saw intense battles across different weight divisions for both Cadets and Junior, with standout performances from athletes representing countries like Republic of Korea, Australia, Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia.Â
The event witnessed an exhilarating display of judo skills from a total of 108 competitors representing 14 nations in the Juniors category. The Republic of Korea shone brightly, securing an impressive 7 gold medals, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze, showcasing their judo prowess. Mongolia followed closely with 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes, while Australia demonstrated resilience with 1 gold, 4 silvers, and 12 bronzes.
In the Cadets division, 78 athletes from 11 nations engaged in fierce competition over the two days of the event. Australia emerged as a dominant force, clinching 6 gold medals, 4 silvers, and 5 bronzes, showcasing their strength in the category. Mongolia continued their impressive performance, securing 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes, while Saudi Arabia displayed their talent with 2 golds and 3 silvers.
The tournament not only showcased the technical skills and determination of the young judokas but also highlighted the diversity and competitive spirit among the participating nations. With remarkable performances and a mix of dominant and emerging judo powers, the Macau Junior & Cadets Asian Cups 2024 proved to be a platform for talent and sportsmanship in the world of judo.
