During the meeting, discussions focused on Kazakhstan’s achievements in judo and its future ambitions in the sport. Kazakhstan’s support for judo development worldwide was recognized with the official contract signing for hosting the prestigious event in 2027. Mr. Vizer presented Mr. Myrzabossynov with a special edition porcelain Jigoro Kano statue as a token of appreciation.
Kazakhstan’s success in judo was highlighted, including Yeldos Smetov’s historic Olympic title at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The upcoming World Championships will bring together top judoka from around the world, further establishing Kazakhstan as a rising power in judo globally.
In addition to hosting the championships, plans are underway for the opening of an IJF Academy representative office in Kazakhstan. This initiative aims to elevate the professional level of Kazakh and Central Asian athletes and coaches, contributing to the continued growth and success of judo in the region.
The 2027 World Judo Championships in Kazakhstan will not only showcase the country’s passion for the sport but also provide a platform for judo enthusiasts from across the globe to come together in celebration of this martial art.
