The Taipei Asian Open 2026 concluded successfully on 12 July 2026 in Taipei, Chinese Taipei, following two days of exciting competition that brought together judoka from across Asia and beyond.
Organised under the auspices of the Judo Union of Asia (JUA), the tournament attracted 236 competitors from 23 nations, including 149 men and 87 women, who competed across seven men’s and seven women’s weight categories.
Throughout the competition, athletes demonstrated outstanding technical ability, determination, and sportsmanship, reflecting the continued development of judo across the Asian continent and the growing international appeal of JUA events.
The Republic of Korea topped the overall medal standings with an impressive haul of 7 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze medals, underlining the team’s strength across both the men’s and women’s divisions. Japan finished second with 4 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while Kazakhstan placed third with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Host nation Chinese Taipei also enjoyed a successful tournament, winning 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals in front of the home crowd.
Among the individual champions were Republic of Korea’s Kim Hanjun (-60 kg), Ryu Seunghwan (-66 kg), Park Heewon (-81 kg), Kim Yoonyoung (-90 kg), Lee Hongkyu (-100 kg), Park Seo Yun (-48 kg), and Kim Ahyeon (+78 kg). Japan claimed four titles through Yoshida Yuna (-57 kg), Yoshida Hiyori (-63 kg), Mizoguchi Aoi (-70 kg), and Hamada Shori (-78 kg). Kazakhstan secured victories through Zhetkergen Madi (-73 kg) and Zhabborov Sanzhar (+100 kg), while Chinese Taipei celebrated a home gold medal from Shen Yi-Hsi in the women’s -52 kg category.

The Taipei Asian Open once again provided an important platform for athletes to gain valuable international competition experience while further strengthening friendship and cooperation among the judo community throughout Asia and beyond.
