Hangzhou Asian Games Successfully Opened
The highly anticipated 19th Hangzhou Asian Games commenced on the evening of September 23 with a spectacular opening ceremony, captivating the audience. Athletes from all 45 member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia have gathered to participate in this prestigious sporting event, with over 12,000 competitors ready to showcase their skills and determination.
Grand Opening of the Saudi Judo in Schools Programme
Saudi Arabia has been very active in recent years developing judo in all sectors. The latest proof of that has just happened in the capital city of Riyadh, with the grand opening of the Judo in Schools programme in the presence of Ruben Houkes, head of the IJF Judo for Children Commission, Leandra Freitas, IJF Sport Department and Judo for Children Commission member, and Jimmy Van Meurs, commission member.

Uzbek Judo Champions Receive Presidential Honours for Elevating the Sport
In a prestigious ceremony held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, judo champions Diyora Keldiyorova and Muzaffarbek Turoboyev were honoured to receive the title of ‘Honoured Athlete of Uzbekistan.’ At the same event, world champion Davlat Bobonov was recognised with a special award, ‘For a Healthy Generation.’ The awards were presented by His Excellency Mr Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, showing his continued support for the promotion and development of judo in the country.

The IOC Takes on the Spirit of Judo
Pedro Dias is the Gender Equality & Inclusion Manager from the Corporate and Sustainable Development Department of the International Olympic Committee. He is also a fifth dan judoka from Portugal, who achieved a bronze medal at the European Championships in 2008 and participated in a world championships and the Olympic Games in Beijing, while Achilleas Tsogas is the Judo Manager of the IOC Sport Department.

The French heavyweight women’s school is the best in the world at the moment and so finding Celia Cancan winning again and again was no surprise.
